what creating means to me

I fell in love with visual art before I can remember, during early childhood art lessons with my father; I fell in love with the creative process while watching my mother select fabrics and patterns to turn into beautiful clothing by her own hand.  Along with exposure to fine art during weekend trips to the Smithsonian museums in my hometown of Washington, DC, these early experiences are foundational to my sense of myself as an artist.

The creative process is how I explore questions that don’t have straightforward answers and emotions that are too tangled to simply “sit with.”  My work is rooted in my belief that all things are interconnected and the full picture is often greater than the sum of its parts.
